Owen Morris - Trumpet: Owen grew up in Glenbrook and began studying with local trumpeter James Pensini at the age of 9. Owen is currently on a full academic scholarship to the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Leanne Sullivan and holds the inaugural trumpet fellowship position with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra for 2015. Owen recently won the position of Principal Trumpet with the Adelaide Symphony Orchestra and will begin working there at the start of the 2016 season. Owen has also performed with the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra, Sydney Philharmonia Orchestra and Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra (the latter two as guest Principal Trumpet). Owen enjoys coming back to the Blue Mountains to help mentor the students in the Mountains Youth Band, a group which has contributed greatly to his success over the 8 years he spent there.
Daniel Henderson - Trumpet: Born in Perth, Daniel began learning the trumpet at the age of 10 and throughout high school studied with David Elton. In 2009 Dan began his Bachelor of Music at the University of Melbourne and in 2012 was accepted in the inaugural intake of brass players at the Australian National Academy of Music. Daniel has participated in Australian Youth Orchestra programs since 2009, including the 2013 International Tour, and was the orchestra's Principal Trumpet in 2014. Daniel moved to Boston in 2014 to continue his musical studies with Thomas Rolfs, the Principal Trumpet of the Boston Symphony Orchestra. Whilst studying in the USA, Daniel was a fellow at the Tanglewood Music Center, both in 2014 and 2015. Daniel has performed with the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops, Sydney SO, Melbourne SO, Orchestra Victoria, and the West Australian SO.
Timothy Skelly - Horn: Tim Skelly is currently based in Melbourne studying at the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM). He completed his Bachelor at the Sydney Conservatorium in 2014 under the tutelage of Robert Johnson (Sydney Symphony) and David Thompson (Barcelona Symphony, Hong Kong Philharmonic). During this time, Tim was the recipient of the 2013 Richard Merewether Memorial Prize. Tim has performed with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra and its Sinfonia Orchestra and has been engaged to play on several film sound tracks by Clicktrack Music.
Milo Dodd - Tenor Trombone: Born in Melbourne, Milo began playing trombone at a young age drawn to the golden colour of the instrument and its beautiful sound. He began his tertiary music studies that same year at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music before moving to Sydney to continue his studies at the Sydney Conservatorium. A founding member of Bennelong Brass; he has also appeared in concert with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra, Canberra Symphony Orchestra, Sydney Chamber Opera, Sydney Brass, and the Australian Youth Orchestra. Milo is also an avid cyclist and lover of the outdoors - so when he isn’t busy with the trombone you’ll find him pedalling around Sydney or at the beach!
Matthew McGeachin - Bass Trombone: Matthew is currently performing on the Sydney season of Les Miserables and teaches low brass at Kambala College in Rose Bay. He moved to Sydney after spending two years studying with Jessica Buzbee at the Australian National Academy of Music in Melbourne. Matthew has performed as a casual with many symphony orchestras including Queensland Symphony, Tasmania Symphony, Adelaide Symphony, Sydney symphony, Malaysian Philharmonic, New Zealand Symphony and the Macau Orchestra. He completed his bachelor studies with Tom Coyle at the Queensland Conservatorium. While living in Brisbane he performed for stage musicals including South Pacific, A Chorus Line, Annie, Mary Poppins and Chicago.
